The best things in life don’t change much, but they do need updating from time to time.
The Seagate Golf Club – which has always endorsed elegance and good taste – knew that.
That’s why the Seagate Golf Club recently finished a major renovation at their historic golf course with design excellence and deluxe patronage.
Known for being one of the best championship golf courses in Palm Beach County, they reopened last month. The 18-hole Seagate Golf course, known for its legendary designer Joe Lee, enters a new phase of creation by renowned golf course architect Drew Rogers.
The new golf course enhances the game and allows players to experience new challenges within the scope of the game.
One thing for sure, the 18-hole championship course continues to wow golfers and guests with its 300-acre Bimini Bermuda grass and tree-lined fairways. They also kept to their original heritage with an impressive practice facility, driving range, pitching and bunker areas, and staff of PGA professionals.
The updated golf course has sparked newness in all areas, from the obvious to the discerning player’s advantage. The changes affect the greens, fairways, tees, bunkers, irrigation, drainage, turf grasses, landscaping, driving range and practice facilities.
“Recognized as one of the best golf courses in the region, this full renovation continues to provide our members with the world-class facilities they’ve come to expect,” said Alex Schnoeller, Managing Director of The Seagate.
Seagate Director of Agronomy Alan Fike also sees the golden hue in their green golfing landscape.
“Our architect carefully analyzed our course and designed the plans for the full renovation of the entirety of our golf facilities. Throughout the renovation, I was on the course each day, ensuring that the myriad of intricate design details was executed according to plan. We know our members will be very pleased with the results.”
The changes are mighty but strategically placed for maximum challenge and an enlightened game. This includes a new Bunker Strategy, all new greens complexes and a Rock wall bulkhead on Par 3 at the 15th hole.
“Players will be challenged with the new Seagate Golf Club. The bunker strategy gives golfers a challenge to play the course very differently than in the past.”
Part of this new challenge lies in the fact that the fairway bunkers are more visible from the tee boxes. The green side bunkers are more strategically placed and new greens are bigger. This gives a change to the undulations, allowing more challenging hole locations.
They also enhanced the water hazard on the 15th hole that showcases their new coral rock bulkhead. This upgraded look adds a challenge when navigating the water.
Originally designed by legendary golf architect Joe Lee, the Bates Golf Design Group stayed true to the course’s beloved layout, but modernized and enhanced players’ skills.
The 300-acre course is now stocked with bass ponds, TIF Eagle greens, and bordered by natural wildlife.
What is golf without a luxe clubhouse, after-game wind down and social swivel?
The 41,000 square-foot clubhouse has an updated dining room serving lunch, brunch, and dinner with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a Grand Ballroom, Dining Room, Grille Room and Courtyard.
The Clubhouse renovation includes architectural improvement and upgrades in the lobby, meeting rooms, event spaces, locker rooms, corridors and the outdoor patio.
The new Clubhouse has a modern serene aesthetic and augments its historic Delray Beach roots. The architecture includes soft neutrals and sage green upholstery for a relaxed yet classic touch.
There are leather tufted sofas in intimate seating areas and a new reception desk with leather burl top. The new brass glowing alabaster light fixtures and new curated art collection adds an abstract dimension to its landscape. And, the vintage photos by Slim Aarons of Palm Beach lend an air of laid-back cerebral sophistication.
This new clubhouse renovation adds an elegant nod to Holly-wood glamour with its vintage photos, marble dining tables and rattan patio furniture.
