Adrianne Kurman’s voice is a powerful one, but her actions speak volumes at a lower decibel level.
That is not to say that anything about Kurman is subtle, as a matter of fact her motto as a real estate broker is “The Real Estate Market is Tough, I’m Tougher.
But when it comes to helping those without a platform to stand on, Kurman is all in. Though she got a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from FAU, Kurman found her sweet spot in real estate.
The real estate Broker Associate, who does residential and commercial property transactions, has dedicated herself to serving the community. Words like compassionate and courageous are often used when describing Kurman, but it is her centrifugal force that has propelled her to serve those in need.
“I do things because I think it is the right thing to do. I am not looking for recognition – I don’t post things. I want to impact people’s lives, animal’s lives and who-ever I can help,” said the Baltimore native.
And impact she does. Just recently Kurman gave a compelling speech in front of 180 people who attended the EJS Gala at the Addison. She was draped in a long crimson red dress with matching red gloves and spoke beautifully about the importance of guiding students toward success in their personal and professional lives.
“Our focus is not just on academic achievements, but on nurturing life skills, building confidence, and igniting the passion to chase dreams. Witnessing the transformation of our teens, from the beginning of the program to graduation, fills my heart with great joy.”
It is joy that propels Kurman to move forward, in both her career and in her support of local non-profits.
She sits on the Board of Directors for the EJS Project, that supports underserved youth in Boynton and Del-ray Beach. As Co-Vice Chair she is responsible for the planning and execution of their recent annual gala fete
But that’s not all Kurman does with EJS. She gets to know many of their teens by spending time with them after school.
She also welcomed an EJS student into her real estate domain as a paid intern. The program, called Purpose Pays, sets up students with paid summer internships.
“Last summer Malik Clay shadowed me with everything I did at work. From staging houses to showing houses to listing houses. I also taught him about credit and the importance of being responsible with your credit.”
At EJS Family Night (at Pompey Park) Kurman and intern Malik hosted a Credit Summit for parents and students that stressed the importance of good credit.
“We prepared for weeks to make sure Malik was comfortable and understood every aspect of our presentation. It was truly inspiring to watch him stand confidently in a room filled with people, breaking down complex financial concepts with such ease and clarity.”
Malik’s performance was so impressive that Kur-man and her partner Noelle offered him a job after he finishes school. Kurman also took a young EJS student, who spoke at last years’ gala, to Macy’s for a new dress and shoes. “I wanted to make sure she felt special. Her grade average went from 1.4 to 3.5 since joining EJS.”
Kurman knows that inspiration and aspiration are closely aligned. That’s why she has a nurturing bent to her philanthropic reach. “The students know that Ms. Adrianne takes education and hard work very serious-ly and will sometimes reward those efforts with a gift or acknowledgment, which our youth appreciate,” said EJS Project Founder Dupree Jackson.
There is also another side to this devoted animal advocate. Her real estate group, the ‘FurBaby Group’ at True Floridian, donates money from every transaction to Dez-zy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue. The FurBaby Group specializes in finding homes for people with animals.
“I got tired of hearing people say, ‘I’m moving and can’t take my dog or cat with me.’ So, I created a business around helping families relocate with them—instead of displacing them.
The owner of Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue, Sandra Dezelan, is grateful for Kurman’s kindness. “I admire Adrianne’s integrity, honesty and her big heart for animals. When we purchased our real estate Adrianne handled all the challenges and negotiations, and never gave up. “
She also never gives up helping others. Each year she is one of the sponsors for the Delray Citizens for Delray Police Gala.
She also collects toys for the Delray Police Department’s Toy Drive.
“We collect new toys, that are dropped off at our office, and the police department picks up the toys and distributes them to schools and families.”
She is also involved in adopting a family during the holidays and fulfilling their wish list. “Last year we adopted 13 families, bought them holiday gifts and delivered them with a Delray Beach Police Officer. My house becomes Santa’s workshop during the holidays.”
Kurman’s giving lust knows no boundaries. She also wraps gifts for the “Shop with a Cop” event at Target each year. Her team wraps the gifts outside Target after families pick out items from their wish list.
Her partner (and founder) of True Floridian Realty, Noelle McIntrye saw the goodness in Kurman the moment they met at a real estate transaction. Since then, the two do great things together for those in need, especially animals.
“Adrianne is a force of nature, a powerhouse of passion, heart and unwavering dedication. Her resilience, as fierce as a Category 5 Hurricane, empowers her to tirelessly support her
community, clients, friends, family and countless FurBabies. To know Adrianne is to love her,” adds McIntrye. McIntrye isn’t the only one who marvels at this woman of determination and grit. EJS Founder Dupree does as well.
“Adrianne has given much of her time, talent and treasure to power our mission. She’s a hands-on board member who sees the importance of forming a relationship with the teens we serve and helps push them to be the best version of themselves.”
This ability to see life as a give and take ritual was nurtured by her parents, Gail and
Jerry. Gail was an elementary school teacher in Baltimore, and Adrianne remembers her buying school supplies for the kids and bringing them clothing.
“My mom is a kind soul. Her students reached out to her for years after she was their teacher – she had an impact on all her students.
Adrianne also positively impacts those in her orbit. But it is not without great thought. “If everyone would give back a little bit, the world would b e a better place. If you don’t have money, then give your time. Every little bit you give helps, even $20.”
Kurman also loves helping first time home buyers. Often, they see the real estate landscape as a hopeless venture, but Kurman doesn’t give up. “Even if they think it’s impossible to find their dream home, we make it happen and it changes their entire world.
I work tirelessly for my clients.”
She also works tirelessly for her furry friends. She has three rescue cats and two dogs and calls them her children. There is a rhythm and reason for her love of animals. “I have a great love and passion for animals because they’re the only species that will show you love without words.”
That may be true. But there is an endless supply of words that cross boundaries (from here to infinity) that sing praises for Kurman. And, if you knew her you would see why.
“I believe what you put out in the universe comes back to you. It is important to be kind, you never know what battles someone else is fighting. I believe life is precious – you have to get out there and do the right thing. I wake up each day and try to be better than I was the day before.”
We believe her.
