What began nine years ago as a boutique dermatology office with a grand vision has grown into something Delray Beach did not have before: a true skin and wellness destination.
This fall, Delray Dermatology + Cosmetic Center and its sister studio, Delray Skin, mark their ninth anniversary with the opening of a new building and a philosophy that has stayed the same since day one.
“We opened in 2017 as a dermatology practice built on one idea: that patients deserve time with their physician,” said owner and board-certified dermatologist Dr. Francesca Lewis. “From there we added cosmetic dermatology, a full laser and energy device suite, an on-site Mohs surgery lab, and part-time plastic surgeons, so a patient can go from a skin check to a surgical procedure to a cosmetic consultation without leaving the practice. What began as a derm office is now a place that looks at the skin and the person behind it, with a team of more than thirty caring for both.”
TWO BUILDINGS, ONE TEAM
Today the practice lives in two buildings with one team and one physician who knows every patient in both. Delray Dermatology + Cosmetic Center on SE 6th Avenue is home to medical, surgical and injectable care, including a Mohs surgery lab under its own roof. A few blocks away on Federal Highway, Delray Skin is where the experience opens up: hyperbaric oxygen therapy, sauna and cold plunge, halotherapy, red light, IV therapy, acupuncture, massage and advanced facials, alongside functional medicine and longevity care with an in-house physician.
The two sides are deliberately different. Dermatology is diagnosis-driven and insurance-based. Delray Skin is self-pay, unhurried, and built around the whole picture, looking at hormones, gut health, sleep, stress, and nutrition alongside the treatments themselves. Every new patient at Delray Skin begins with a complimentary Skin Plan consultation with Tara Koth, RN, which is simply a conversation about goals and concerns before anything is booked. The space was designed to feel warm and quiet rather than clinical, and the approach is concierge-style care without the stiffness. Patients are given time, they are given answers, and they are never rushed out the door.
THE NEW BUILDING
The new building brings the two sides of the practice closer together and was designed around the way the team already works: consultation rooms made for conversation, dedicated space for the laser and energy device suite, and room for the wellness services that have grown fastest this year. The laser lineup includes UltraClear, Excel V, ResurFX, IPL and Clear + Brilliant, and the newest additions to the practice include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Sofwave for skin tightening, Emsculpt Neo and CoolSculpting for body sculpting, DEXA body composition scanning, the Japanese HeadSpa scalp treatment, and Aerolase and ADVATx for rosacea, acne and redness.
The biggest step of the year, though, was a person, not a machine. Dr. Avianne Hospedales, a board-certified internist, joined the team as its functional medicine and longevity physician. She leads the Deep Dive, a two-visit program with comprehensive lab work and a DEXA scan that ends in a written plan, and the Concierge Wellness Membership at Delray Skin. Her arrival is what allows the practice to answer the question so many patients bring in: why does this keep coming back?
ROOTED IN DELRAY
For all the growth, Dr. Lewis is clear about where the practice belongs.
“We opened in Delray Beach nine years ago, our team lives here, and the majority of our patients still find us the way they always have, through a neighbor, a friend or a family member,” she said. “Growth for us has never meant opening in another city. It has meant building more of what our own community was asking for, a few blocks from where we started. Our anniversary party, our happy hours and lunch and learns, and the events we host with local businesses are not marketing to us, they are how we stay in touch with the people we take care of. Delray Beach gave this practice its start, and everything we build is built here first.”
