At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month is a time to honor all those who have served the country in war or peace for their love of country and patriotism and to Thank them for their sacrifices, all for the common good.
It’s a tradition unlike any other, and it returns for the 38th edition, the annual Delray Beach Turkey Trot 5K, which will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Anchor Park.
So set your alarm clock and join the fun; you won’t regret it. You’ll set yourself up for the day and experience one of the most scenic 5K routes in the United States. Now you won’t feel guilty when you overindulge on your Thanksgiving feast. It’s a win-win!
We also celebrate Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 28. It is a joyous time for us to give Thanks for the past year’s blessings. Family and friends gather to enjoy a turkey dinner and pecan or pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream or ice cream. (Sounds yummy!) Then, add football, which is as much a part of the holiday as the meal.
November is National Adoption Month, and our City Person, Lisa Mur-phy knows all about adoption. During the ten years of adopting their children, Lisa and her husband Jim learned all about the orphan crisis, which led to the creation of ‘Open Hearts for Or-phans,’ which they created to provide resources for orphans and abandoned children.
