Let’s face it, being a grown-up has its ups and downs. We learn the meaning of responsibility and have a “to-do” list that makes “War and Peace” look short. But, there’s an antidote to all this “adulting,” and it’s found off Atlantic Avenue on 19 NE 3rd AVE.
It’s guaranteed to cure whatever ails you and is the happy place for people from 4 to 84 years old. It’s called Silverball Retro Arcade, a place that takes the nostalgia of the past and marries it with the wizardry of the present.
This immense boardwalk-style arcade is just that – Full of over 100 Retro Pinball and Arcade games from the 1950s to now, with the history of each game’s origin featured above the games.
But this is not the history lesson you had in school, it’s more Ferris Bueller’s Day Off than The War of 1812.
Once you start, it’s hard to stop playing, and you don’t have to! Buy a Full-Day, Half Day, or Hour play pass, depending on how much time you have to spare. There’s no need for quarters because all games are on free play! Your wristband allows you to fill up your treasure chest of good times. Not playing? No problem! You can hang at the Tilt Bar at no cost with a “No Play Wristband”. While getting your wristbands, don’t forget to buy some nostalgic candy and Silver-ball Merchandise located at the front desk.
The thrill of the game is action-packed with skills you might have hidden in your closet with your vinyl records. Test your skills with games like The Hobbit, The Addams Family, Mortal Kombat, Atari’s Super Sprint, or some newer games like Star Wars, and The Mandalorian. There’s even basketball, foosball, and air hockey, or you can compete for the high score on the original Coney Island Skee Ball lanes!
That’s the beauty of Silverball– you can be a kid again at any age! It’s a free-for-all that starts and stops with a wizardry of fun and games.
As adults, we all want that opportunity to stop the clock and enjoy the thrill of the moment. Here you can! At any age, you will enjoy this steady stream of flashing lights and sounds that make each game a joyful challenge.
It’s a perfect place for everyone to enjoy the same games at the same pace (the little ones might get tired before grandpa, but don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourselves!)
On the second floor, the action continues. The disco ball hanging from the ceiling sets the tone for the dance floor, with a live DJ on the weekends, two additional full bars (one made out of an actual boat), a multitude of flat-screen TV’s, shuffleboard, and a signed guitar from rock legend Tom Petty. Your senses will be overloaded and begging for more!
We cannot live on fun alone – you have to eat. And where better than the Silverball Arcade to satisfy your craving for great food.
They have food and drink specials Monday-Friday with $8 food items and $6 draft specials. Specials include: Monday’s Quesadilla’s, Tuesday’s Loaded Nachos, Wednesday Pizza, and Thursday is the best burger in town, all for only $8 per item and paired each day with a different $6 draft beer. Plus, there’s a daily weekday Happy Hour from 4pm-7pm with half-off alcoholic beverages!
One thing is for sure, the food at Silverball is top-notch. Co-founder Robert Ilvento has been in the food business for decades. You can taste his world-famous Jersey Shore Fries, specialty pizza shells, and the world’s smoothest rum, “Rob’s Razn Rum” launching in January 2024 in Delray Beach.
Want a premier place to hold any private party? Silverball is the perfect spot to get to know your colleagues with Corporate functions, or celebrate occasions such as Birthday parties, Anniversaries, Mitzvah’s, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, Rehearsal Dinners, Weddings, and more!
Feed your party guests with a full catering menu that has an array of options that are truly first class. Pasta dishes, Roasted Veggies, Chicken or Eggplant Parmesan, Meatballs, Wings, Salads, and much more! Specialty Vegetarian or Gluten-free options are also available upon request. For your sweet tooth, try dessert platters of homemade cookies or mini cannoli’s. If there is something you don’t see listed, their amazing Chef John will make whatever you like, just coordinate it with Events Manager, Dayna DiDomenico at the time of booking.
After all that talk about food, get your competition skills ready because Silverball also has monthly Pinball Tournaments, and one is just for the ladies! There are Teacher and Veteran discounts available, and those who are 55+ also get to have fun and play all day for $15 every Monday. If that isn’t enjoying your golden year’s while feeling like a kid again, I don’t know what is!
If you can’t get to Silverball fast enough on foot and need a ride to the fun, call Tommy, the cart driver, and he’ll pick you up in the Pinball Golf Cart. Look for the flashing lights and bubbles coming down the Ave with the classic song, “Pinball Wizard” playing from the speakers, you can’t miss it!
If you haven’t already done so, come and meet the new General Manager, Kereisha Miller. She and all of the Silverball staff are ready to greet you with a smile and leave you with lasting memories.
Silverball Retro Arcade is open every day from 12pm until midnight during the week, and until 2am on weekends. (Call ahead to find out if there are private events, or a change for holiday hours).
Come to a place where heaven and earth meet on two levels of fun and games. You will forget about your “to-do” list and just enjoy the thrill of the moment!
