Hy Pa-Hy Ma is the best kept fashion secret around. Their unique fashion sportswear and dresses shine a light on beauty. Not just outer beauty, but inner beauty as well.
That’s because when we feel good, we look good. And more often than not we feel good when we look in the mirror and like what we see.
Nance Bernet knew that when she opened this hidden fashion gem many years ago. The former design student and fashion-savvy retailer knew that women would want something unique to wear for daytime or dinner. She also knew that a dark wood paneled interior would insulate shoppers from the busyness of life so they could experience a calm fashion interior.
That is exactly what has happened. Nance’s daughter Mia is now the head buyer and behind-the-scenes power point in the fashion journey of Hy Pa-Hy Ma. But their essence is still the same – to be a fashion boutique that caters to women who want something pretty, yet savvy, unique yet socially adaptable.
“Women have been coming in and saying, ‘I’m so happy you’re still here.’ There have been so many established businesses closing in Delray and beyond, they’re thrilled we’re still here,” adds Mia.
And that’s a good thing.
Where would our fashion-savvy instincts go without stores like Hy Pa-Hy Ma? Where would we go for a fashion pick-me-up to satisfy our creative yearnings?

The answer is nowhere. That’s why we are so grateful for this boutique that continues to bring out the best in us for fashion sake.
“It feels so good to shop in a store that makes you feel beautiful and cared for. I love Hy Pa-Hy Ma because I find novelty tops and pant outfits for day or evening I can’t find anywhere else,” said Ellen.
With the retail landscape shrinking like a wet plastic bag, stores like Hy Pa-Hy Ma are a rarity. So are people like Mia and Nance (and their sales staff). This is not a shop and grab store, it’s a retail environment where you are treated with kindness and dignity, care and attention.
Their eclectic fashion mix is always a thrill as well. Items you won’t see anywhere else are paired with upbeat accessories. There are light blue short jackets with sequins and novelty buttons inspired by Chanel. To match their wonderful tunic tops and blouses are pants in every style with comfort the major advantage.
They have a wonderful new knit pull-on pant in neutral colors that will go with everything. You can dine in splendor without having to wonder if your pants will fit after dessert. They’re not too narrow and not too wide, they’re just perfect.
They also have the trouser staple in everyone’s closet: the Slim-Sation pant. This flexible tummy control panel is designed to “smooth the tummy, thighs and rear.” They also boast of shape recovery technology and the ability to look and feel 10 pounds lighter (hooray).
Hy Pa-Hy Ma also has a delicious selection of blouses in stripes and prints that hail from the classics with fashion attitude. An example of this is a terrific blue and white striped shirt with pearl trimming on all sides. White denim pants sit nearby with pearl and rhinestone trim and a modest slit.

Another top that goes from work to country club (or vice versa) is a red and white striped tunic blouse with Oriental bone-inspired buttons. This oversized shirt-tunic is classy (and classic) with stitching that dominates its longer stance.
One thing this fashion emporium does is showcase terrific accessories on each outfit. A double heart necklace in hammered silver hangs on top of the red and white tunic. It’s an accent piece as well as a sweet reminder that accessories can uplift us and make a fashion statement at the same time. It also helps the customer see the symmetry of fashion proportion.
That’s why a rhinestone starfish necklace sits atop a black and white knit column dress with tie shoulders. The jewelry is fun and upbeat and a beautiful way to nurture our glittering souls. There are also knit tunic tops with wide-legged pants in prints and stripes (our favorite is a black and white striped outfit).
They also have day-to-evening knit jumpsuits with glitter wrap fronts, and cotton gauze separates, perfect for the sizzle days of summer. We also love their stylish tropical printed dress with pleated bodice, and a Pucci-inspired neon printed dress.
Their selection of novelty purses with beading, jewels and geometric shapes are simply perfect. They’re designer-inspired without the designer price tag.
Stores like Hy Pa–Hy Ma are a rarity these days. That’s why it is important to support them. They have clothing that will transport you to your happy place and an assortment of carefully curated accessories that will make you look your best and feel terrific.
Come for the experience, shop for the delight!
