A TASTE OF TRADITION WITHSOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Some things never go out of style, and a great Deli is one of them. For over 40 years, Poppies has been serving comfort food, homemade specialties and traditional deli favorites.

Their bagels are made fresh every morning, and the choices are endless. Challah is baked in-house too, with round challah available for the holidays.

Breakfast is a tradition for many Poppies guests. The weekday special, served Monday to Friday from 7 to 11 a.m., features two eggs and a choice of two sides, with coffee or tea included.

They also have Pancakes, fruit, fresh eggs, hash browns and decadent French Toast Napoleon – three layers of French toast topped with strawberries, bananas, pecans and whipped cream. There are also Oreo Cookie and Red Velvet pancakes, apple-cinnamon French toast and much more.

For die-hard Poppies fans, their Corned beef and pastrami sandwiches on fresh bread hit the mark. Another popular choice is the half-sandwich and soup combination. Their fresh turkey carved off the bone, brisket and roast beef are the best in town.

Another deli classic is Nova Scotia salmon. The Mini Nova Bagel Sandwich comes with Nova, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato and capers. For sharing, the Fish for Two includes baked kippered salmon, Nova, lox, whitefish, sturgeon and sable, accompanied by bagels or bialys and cream cheese.

Lunch offers an extensive selection of sandwiches, salads, soups and hot entrees. Weekday Lunch Specials, available Monday to Friday until 2 p.m. (excluding holidays), include a half salad or deli sandwich, coleslaw and a cup of soup.

Salad lovers have 11 varieties to choose from, ranging from Chef’s, Caesar, Portobello, Avocado Mango, Greek, Turkey Mediterranean and Cobb. Grilled dishes such as chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon can be topped off with a salad as well.

Homemade specialities add to the traditional Deli experience. They have Knishes, homemade potato pancakes and noodle kugel. Soup selections include homemade matzo ball, chicken noodle, mushroom barley, French onion and cabbage, along with rotating choices such as split pea and tomato basil.

Dinner brings even more variety. Guests can choose half herb-roasted chicken, grilled or blackened salmon, or sizzling Romanian steak served on a hot platter with mushrooms and onions.

Dinner Specials are available every day (excluding holidays) and range from branzino to one-and-a-half-pound lobster, grilled lamb chops and more. These also come with two sides, soup or salad, dessert and a beverage – from 3pm till closing.

If variety is the spice of life, then the Sunset Menu offers another special opportunity. Available Monday to Friday from 3:30 to 5:30, you get an entree, one side dish, a beverage, dessert and half-price wine.

If you’re up for an after-dinner drink, have espresso and cappuccino with whipped cream or a splash of Kahlúa or Baileys. With their full bar, they offer cocktails, mimosas and Bloody Marys and other drinks all day long.

No meal is complete without checking out their freshly baked desserts. Cakes, pies, rugalach and muf-fins will make you swoon. Choose from chocolate chip, cranberry nut, pistachio and more.

Families are also welcome, and a children’s menu includes smaller portions, a beverage and a cookie.

If you’re in a rush, or want food to go, Poppies is ready when you are. They have soups by the pint or quart, sandwiches, desserts and other prepared foods prepared for takeout.

Though the action is inside the restaurant, Poppies specializes in catering events where needed. They make custom party platters, deli sandwiches and other goodies for any size event.

For those who prefer to celebrate at the restaurant, private rooms can accommodate 30 guests in one section, with adjoining space allowing groups up to 60.

Poppies is the perfect place to host a holiday or birthday party, wedding, school function, memorial, or have a business lunch. Manager Alyson is the person who will make your event come together flawlessly.

They also have an extensive menu of Greek favorites, appetizers and a helpful staff to make you feel at home.

After four decades, Poppies Deli continues to bring people together to share life’s more salient moments. Even if it’s a first meeting, the food, the flavors, the choices and the desserts will add a glow to your day.

If you’re in the area, they welcome you to pop in for a cappuccino or latte. Because the folks at Poppies always have a table ready for you!
